As of July 1, 2023, new compliance standards for the Footwear sector have come into effect in India, requiring Brands to use BIS-certified manufacturers to sell their products in the country. Currently, the QCO (Quality Control Order) now includes not only various types of protective and professional footwear but also Sport Footwear (both general and professional use) and all open footwear (Sandals and Slippers).
In light of the recent regulatory updates affecting Footwear & BIS Certification, we have created a new comprehensive White Paper. Significant amendments to the standards for BIS Certification were introduced in January 2024, and these will become mandatory from August 2024.
