We’ve published a new white paper on the topic of microplastics.
Why is it important to talk about microplastics?
In recent years, microplastics and microfibers have become a global environmental priority. Released from synthetic fabrics, tires, and other industrial processes, these plastic particles pose a threat to both the environment and human health. With over 400 million tons of plastic produced in 2023, the issue is only expected to grow.
Focus on regulations and standards
The European Union has introduced Regulation (EU) 2023/2055, aimed at reducing microplastic emissions by enforcing stricter restrictions on synthetic polymers and additives. Manufacturers are now required to comply by adopting innovative solutions to minimize microfiber release and improve sustainability.
Analyses in our laboratories
In collaboration with the University of Florence, we offer advanced qualitative and quantitative testing using micro-FTIR instrumentation, capable of identifying the chemical composition of microplastics and microfibers. This enables a deeper understanding of contamination and the implementation of effective mitigation strategies.
