15 kV Impulse Tests for Railway, Lighting & Industrial

Impulse voltage tests up to 15 kV now available in our laboratory

Investing in testing capabilities means giving clients the concrete tools to validate the reliability of their products — and this principle drives every upgrade in our laboratory.

The latest addition is a new system for impulse withstand and transient overvoltage testing up to 15 kV, a type of test increasingly required in the validation process for electrical and electronic products.

This is still a rare capability at national level: very few laboratories in Italy are equipped with instrumentation at this capacity. For companies, this means access to advanced technical support without having to rely on foreign laboratories or extending development timelines.
The system covers tests relevant to the main international standards for electrical safety and insulation coordination, including IEC/EN 60664-1, IEC/EN 60204-1 and IEC/EN 61439.

Application sectors

This new capability is relevant wherever electrical robustness is a critical, non-negotiable requirement.

Railway
In the rail sector, continuity of service must be guaranteed even under the most demanding conditions. On-board equipment, converters, auxiliary and infrastructure systems, switchboards and components are all subject to electrical disturbances and overvoltages that can compromise their operation. Tests support compliance with standards such as EN 50155, EN 50124 and IEC 60077.

Lighting and outdoor
Public lighting and outdoor equipment operate in environments particularly exposed to mains disturbances and impulsive transients. With the 15 kV system, we can support the testing of outdoor luminaires, street lighting, floodlights, LED drivers and emergency lighting, with reference to IEC/EN 60598, IEC/EN 61347 and IEC 61000-4-5.

Industrial and power systems
An unmanaged overvoltage can mean machine downtime, electronic failures, loss of productivity and costly repair work. Our laboratory is equipped to test LV switchboards, UPS, inverters, industrial automation systems, EV charging stations and power electronics, in compliance with IEC/EN 61439, IEC/EN 61851-1 and IEC 61000-4-5.

Let’s talk about your project

Every product has its own story, its own reference standards, its own critical points. Whether you are working on a prototype, approaching pre-production or completing final validation, the right time to involve us is before problems arise not after.
Tell us what you are developing: we will assess together which tests are genuinely useful for your specific case and how to structure the testing process efficiently. No generic advice — just concrete answers tailored to your project.
