They set out sector-specific guidelines for implementing the Halal Product Assurance System.<\/p><p>The guidelines cover a range of products and activities, including cosmetics, natural medicines and quasi-pharmaceutical products, food supplements, genetically engineered products, medical devices and household health supplies, consumer goods, food and beverage services, sales services, and animal slaughtering activities.\u00a0<\/p><h2><strong>Categories covered by the guidelines<\/strong><\/h2><p>The eight decisions concern:<\/p><ul><li><strong>370\/2026:<\/strong> cosmetics;<\/li><li><strong>371\/2026:<\/strong> natural medicines, quasi-pharmaceutical products and health supplements;<\/li><li><strong>372\/2026:<\/strong> genetically engineered products;<\/li><li><strong>373\/2026:<\/strong> medical devices and household health supplies;<\/li><li><strong>374\/2026:<\/strong> consumer goods, including clothing, headwear, accessories and household items;<\/li><li><strong>375\/2026:<\/strong> food and beverage serving services;<\/li><li><strong>376\/2026:<\/strong> sales services;<\/li><li><strong>377\/2026:<\/strong> animal slaughtering activities.<\/li><\/ul><p>The relevant requirements depend on the product or service category. Companies should first identify the guideline applicable to their activities and assess how it fits into their Halal compliance process.<\/p><h2><strong>What companies should review<\/strong><\/h2><p>The assessment is not limited to the finished product. Companies should consider the materials used and the supply-chain stages that may affect Halal compliance.<\/p><p>This includes checking the origin and composition of raw materials and ingredients, with particular attention to animal-derived materials and substances for which specific evidence may be required.<\/p><p>Manufacturing, processing and packaging operations should also be reviewed to identify potential issues and assess the measures in place to prevent cross-contamination with non-Halal materials. Traceability and controls covering suppliers, materials, intermediate products and finished goods are also relevant.<\/p><p>Finally, companies should check that internal procedures, technical specifications, records and supporting documentation are consistent with the applicable requirements and supported by information gathered across the supply chain.<\/p><h2><strong>Timelines: check for further updates<\/strong><\/h2><p>The BPJPH decisions were issued on <strong>12 October 2026<\/strong>. The timeline for mandatory Halal certification should be considered separately, as it may vary by product category.<\/p><p>On <strong>16 October 2026<\/strong>, the Indonesian government announced an extension of the transition period to <strong>17 October 2028<\/strong> for certain categories, including cosmetics, genetically engineered products and some consumer goods. The announcement stated that the extension would be implemented through an update to the relevant regulation.
